This past June 15, 2016, the Sean Anderson Foundation was a proud sponsor of The Chauncy Glover Project’s 3rd Annual Black Tie Gala “Breaking Out: Breaking the Chains. Breaking the Cycle.”
Founded by three-time Emmy Award winning journalist Chauncy Glover, an Anchor/Reporter for KTRK ABC13 in Houston, Texas, the Chauncy Glover Project (CGP) is a hands-on mentoring program based in Detroit, Michigan. A 501(c)(3) organization, the program seeks to groom inner-city teenage boys into upstanding and accomplished gentlemen. CGP focuses it’s efforts around education, manhood, self-empowerment, financial responsibility, etiquette, college readiness, relationship building, community service and more.
Hosted by Medina Islam, the gala took place at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, and the evening featured a special performance by American Idol’s Season 12 winner Candice Glover. The gala also served as a culminating moment in which the students of CGP were able to take the stage to speak directly to the impact the program has had on their lives.
In addition to providing sponsorship support, Sean Anderson Foundation’s Myra Anderson was also an Honorary Chairperson, and fellow SAF board member Brett Anderson attended the gala, while making sure he took some photographs to share across our social media channels and website.
