Since the toxicology findings from the water contamination crisis in Flint, MI were made public, the Sean Anderson Foundation has dedicated it’s time towards finding a solution that would have the greatest impact for citywide residents. Once we learned that the needs of children exposed to lead (the most vulnerable being children ages 0-6) would be both ongoing and long-term, we began focusing our efforts towards building a support system that would help drive donations and awareness towards benefiting our leaders of tomorrow.
For this reason, today Big Sean and the Sean Anderson Foundation are announcing a life-changing partnership with the Detroit-based online crowdsourcing platform CrowdRise. Together, we are joining forces to help families with kids who have been exposed to toxic water in Flint, by launching a viral fundraising campaign to raise money for the Community Foundation of Greater Flint Michigan’s(CFOGFM) “Flint Child Health & Development Fund”.
Set up by the CFOGFM, the “Flint Child Health & Development Fund” was established to ensure the long-term health of Flint families affected by the 2014-2016 water crisis, and to jumpstart the campaign, Big Sean has made a personal donation of $10,000.
“I am devastated by the water crisis that has put the entire city of Flint in a state of emergency,” says Big Sean. “In recognizing the great work that the Community Foundation of Greater Flint Michigan has been doing, it is my hope that we can help by raising the money needed to ensure that the children who have been hit the hardest receive the care that they need today and well into the future.”
Starting at noon PST today (January 21), donors who make a pledge of $10 or more will automatically receive a chance to win a pair of tickets to a Big Sean U.S. concert in 2016, with a meet and greet and photo opportunity! The campaign will end March 15th, with 6 (six) winners announced within days of closing.
Sometimes we can wonder if our individual and positive efforts are ever noticed or have any residual impact on the world around us; however, just like a single pebble tossed into a larger body of water, the resulting ripples created from our singular efforts will spread farther than the eye can see. Today, the pebble you cast into the world can truly change and save a child’s life in Flint.
Each of us can #HealFlintsKids and prove that #OneManCanChangeTheWorld because no matter how great or small, today, #ItTakesOneDONATION to help the children of Flint.
